In the wake of poor road nerworks bedevilling Epe community, there seems to be a sigh of relief to road users as there are indications that in the not too distant future, water transportation will take off in the ancestral home of Alaro and Ogunmodede.
According to the facebook page of one of the town's promising young prospect, and Epe Local Government Chief Press Secretary, Osifeko Mark Olaniyi, it was gathered that a team of Lagos State Waterways Authority official sailed to the popular " fresh fish town " to sensitize boat operators and waterway travellers on safety. He also noted that fliers, information packages and life jackets were distributed free of charge.
However, road users may have to switch to water transport sooner or later as travel time from the recently launched Five Cowries Terminal in Victoria Island to Ayetoro Jetty, Epe, is approximately an hour.
" I recently joined the team from Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) on safety sensitization for boat operators and waterway users on our waterways in Epe.
Life jackets, fliers and information packages were also shared to them. It is delightful to know that the travel time from the 5 cowries terminal Victoria Island to Ayetoro jetty is around 1 hour and their services will soon be extended to the people of Epe.
Kudos to the vibrant and innovative team of youths at LASWA. We are proud of you guys" , the Facebook post read.
